My goal is to have your home shine in its best light, so below is a list of tips and tricks to get your home ready for photography (and, of course, showings).
- All lights on – ceiling, fan lights, table, desk, floor, torchiere, reading, accent, etc.
- Make sure all those lights have working light bulbs and that the fixtures are plugged in and working. There should be no light fixtures visible that are not powered on.
- Please do not mix light bulbs of different color temperatures, i.e., soft white vs. daylight, in the same fixtures, or in matching bedside lamps, sconces, or bathroom vanity lights, etc.
- If possible, an effort should be made to have all ceiling lights – fan, hanging, can – the same color temperature, too. The exception is decorative fixtures with “Edison” bulbs.
- All fans are off – timed exposures are used, so they would be a blur if left running.
- For windows facing exterior views such as lakes, mountains, and golf courses, please open and raise (or slide to the side) all blinds.
- For all other windows with blinds, they can be left down, but they should all be set to the same lowest height, and all open and leveled.
- Remove all magnets, stickers, and artwork from the refrigerator front and sides.
- Hide all kitchen, bath, office, and bedroom waste cans. No dishes in the sinks or on drying racks. Drying racks should be hidden.
- Kitchen counters should be decluttered and have a minimum number of countertop appliances, and no personal papers or mail.
